Blue Devils thump CV to cap perfect regular season

Chenango Forks simply ran away with a Section 4 Football Conference victory Saturday.

L.J. Watson amassed 176 yards and four touchdowns on eight carries to lead the Blue Devils to a 47-0 rout of host Chenango Valley, which had 90 total yards in falling to Forks for the 23rd consecutive season.

Watson scored the first two TDs for Forks in the first quarter, on runs of 28 and 22 yards, respectively.

Tim McDonald contributed three touchdowns, including a 49-yard fumble return in the third quarter. That followed Watson’s longest run, a 76-yarder for a touchdown.

Aaron Trumino carried the ball eight times for 27 yards and had one catch for 10 yards to pace CV (2-6).

The Blue Devils improved to 8-0, marking their first undefeated regular season in four seasons. Forks lost to Tioga in 2013 and to Maine-Endwell the last two regular seasons but went on to Class C state championships each time.

Now in Class B, Forks will host Owego in the first round of the Section 4 tournament next Saturday.
