L.J. Watson ran for 153 yards and two touchdowns Saturday to lead Chenango Forks to a 34-0 thumping of visiting Norwich in a Section 4 Football Conference Division IV game.
The Blue Devils (7-0, 3-0), who won three straight Class C state titles before moving to Class B this season, extended their winning streak to 18 games while clinching a berth in the upcoming Section 4 tournament.
Watson opened the scoring with a 67-yard run in the first quarter and followed with a 27-yard touchdown run in the second. Bryant LaMere's second extra point followed Tim McDonald's 8-yard TD run to cap the first-half scoring.
LaMere had two more PAT kicks in the third quarter, after McDonald scored on a 10-yard rush and Dan Crowningshield pounded the ball in from 1-yard out.
McDonald finished with 88 yards on 12 carries for Chenango Forks, which secured the shutout when Seth Bush intercepted a fourth-and-goal pass.
Norwich quarterback Cole Rifanburg completed 9 of 19 passes for 86 yards but was intercepted twice. The Purple Tornado, held to 2.1 yards per carry, dropped to 3-4 overall and 1-3 in division play.
Forks visits division rival Chenango Valley (2-5, 1-2) next Saturday. Norwich will attempt to stop Oneonta's three-game winning streak Friday night at home.
