Tim Batty, Jim Nicholson and Jason Chier all scored two touchdowns each as Chenango Forks rolled to a 51-0 victory over Oneonta in a Section 4 Division III football game Saturday.

The reigning state Class B champion Blue Devils (9-0) will next play Norwich (8-1) for the Section 4 Class B title 7 p.m. Friday at Union-Endicott's Ty Cobb Stadium.

Tim O'Branski capped Forks' opening drive with a 1-yard touchdown run for a 7-0 lead.
After intercepting a Kyle Donnelly pass, Forks scored on Batty's 37-yard run, making it 14-0 midway through the first quarter.

Forks punted on its ensuing possession, then scored on its next four straight drives en route to a 44-0 halftime lead.

Tim Batty had 72 yards on three rushes, including two touchdowns, to lead defending Class B state champion Chenango Forks past visiting Oneonta on Saturday.
Jim Nicholson and Jason Chier had two touchdowns apiece for the Blue Devils (9-0).

"Our interior defense played well, but offensively, we struggled," first-year OHS coach John Nealis said. "They exploited us with the option on the pitch. We couldn’t hang with those guys there."

Donnie Potter had 20 yards on five carries to lead Oneonta, which finished 3-6. Potter replaced quarterback Kyle Donnelly, who suffered an ankle injury and aggravated a knee injury sustained in the Yellowjackets Sept. 25 game at Windsor.

SOMETHING TO WORK ON

With its 51-0 romp past visiting Oneonta completing a 9-0 regular season in which it outscored its opponents 427-43, defending Class B state champion Chenango Forks would seem to have little to complain about heading into it's Section 4 title game with Norwich on Friday at Union-Endicott's Ty Cobb Stadium.

However, the Blue Devils were flagged nine times for penalties for a total of 90 yards against the Yellowjackets, not the first time this season that Forks has racked up a sizable amount of penalty yardage.

"It's a concern, those penalties are drive killers, and against a good football team, you're going to have to punt," Forks coach Kelsey Green said. "A lot of that is mental. However, if that's something we focus on, I think we can take of that."

Aside from the penalties, Forks' victory over Oneonta was much like its other ones this season. It featured a great running attack -- Forks ran 50 times for 365 yards -- and a stellar defensive effort. Oneonta mustered 96 yards of offense and three first downs, two of those coming on its opening drive.
